Sanitarium is a psychological thriller style of adventure game that was released in the late nineties. It was developed by DreamForge Entertainment and published by ASC Games for Microsoft Windows. It is a single player game that is recommended, according to its ESRB rating, for teenagers. The game was somewhat reworked and re-released in 2002 for XP, but the game here is the original horror game.

Sanitarium is a point-and-click adventure game, best described as a psychological thriller. The player is cast as Max Laughton, a man who wakes up in a bizarre asylum, suffering from amnesia due to a car accident. He will have to find out who he is, and what he is doing there. The game world is divided into five different levels, each having its own atmosphere, and it's not always clear if something is happening on the grounds of the sanitarium or in the delusional mind of the protagonist. Both movement of Max and picking up items are done with the mouse. Puzzles are mostly inventory-related, with a few machine and lever puzzles. There are also a few action sequences, but even when the player dies, the game can be continued without any penalty. Talking to various NPCs will teach the player about their bizarre surroundings.

Is a very rare computer game, and I doubt if anyone has ever played it. The game itself is quite simple. You'll have to drive around the small village, and collect all the kids headed for school. There are 2 difficulty levels (which aren't that difficult). After playing the game (that works pefectly on new machines), I've come to a conclusion that there are no chanllenges in this game whatsoever. You have all the time in the world to collect the kids to school, and no one is chasing you. Defenetly this game was developed for small kids. So, if you are a small kid, this is the game for you.
