Borland owned Quattro Pro, and they were sued by Lotus because it was one of many 123 clones. It was by far the best of the lot, and outperformed 125 on all fronts. They lost the suit, and it cost $125 million USD. It cost them that market, and put Lotus out of business as a major player in the market they formerly dominated. They should have paid programmers to improve the software instead lawyers to sue a competitor that had bested them.
